Academic Technology Requests & ATUG

At Excelsior University, we stay ahead of the latest technology tools and trends to provide the best possible learning experience for our students. At the same time, we ensure that all technologies align with our standards for security, accessibility, usability, and integration. To support this, we’ve established a process for submitting academic technology requests.

Where does my request go?

Your request is submitted to the Academic Users Group (ATUG).

What is our Purpose?

The ATUG leverages collective expertise and interests to explore, test and recommend new uses of the University’s learning management system.  Members stay abreast of the latest trends and product updates and recommend further exploration and adoption of specific tools and third-party products to support innovative teaching, learning, and community-building. ATUG has the final say on whether or not a technology can be used in a course.

What is the Process?

  1. Review the request and prioritize (if needed)
  2. Review the ADA compliance and data security compliance statements
  3. Integrate the technology (if needed)
  4. Test the new technology
  5. If the technology can move forward, set up a small pilot (1-3 courses, not relying heavily on the tool).
  6. Create documentation for students/faculty
  7. Update course content
  8. Review the pilot and recommend usage (widespread, limited, or none)

What happens if I don’t fill out the form completely?

It will be sent back and will not be considered for testing until all information is provided.
