Course References

Course Code

Always include the course code when referencing a specific course, with no spaces (e.g., BUS101). Use the full course name with the code on first reference:

Example:

“In BUS101: Introduction to Business, you will learn about…”

Abbreviate the course code alone in subsequent references if the meaning is clear.

Outcomes

Use the term outcomes when referring to what students will achieve or demonstrate—not “objectives.” This aligns with our instructional language standards and emphasizes measurable results. We have two levels, Course Outcomes and Module Outcomes.

Modules vs. Weeks

In our course structure, content is organized into modules. However, when referring to the timing of activities or expectations, use “weeks.”

Only reference other parts of the course by week or module when absolutely necessary for clarity/to avoid confusion (e.g., when timing or sequence is critical to the learner’s success).

Example:

“In Week 4, you’ll begin your group project.”
